Privacy and cookies
This is a translation provided for convenience. The French version is the one that is legally binding.
In short
- Your guest lists, tables and rules stay in your browser. We never receive them.
- There is no account, no cookie and no tracker.
- If you buy a licence, payment is handled by our reseller Polar.
- Like any website, Placelia is served by a host (Cloudflare) that technically sees your IP address.
Data controller
Léo BRUANT, contact@placelia.fr (full contact details in the legal notice).
Your plan data
The names, groups, diets and notes you enter are saved only in your browser’s local storage (localStorage). They are not sent to any server. We can neither see them nor recover them: use “Export plan” to keep a copy. To erase them, delete the plan in the app or clear the site’s data in your browser.
Diets and allergies can reveal sensitive information about your guests. Because this data never leaves your device, it stays under your control; only enter it if your caterer needs it.
Hosting and technical logs
The site is served by Cloudflare, Inc. (see the legal notice). To deliver the pages and protect the site against attacks, Cloudflare processes your IP address and the technical data of each request (page requested, date, browser). Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a site that is available and secure. We do not look at this data or use it for anything else; Cloudflare keeps it under its own policy.
Messages you send us
If you write to us, your message and email address are routed by Cloudflare (email routing) to our mailbox, hosted by Proton AG (Switzerland). They are used only to answer you (legal basis: your request, or performing the contract if it is about your licence). We keep them while handling your request, then for 3 years at most.
Online withdrawal
If you use the online withdrawal function, the name, email addresses, licence, purchase date and order number you enter are used only to process your withdrawal and send you its acknowledgment. The acknowledgment is sent by Cloudflare (email sending service), with a copy to us. Legal basis: our legal obligation to let you withdraw and refund you. We keep your declaration for 5 years, the period during which a dispute can arise (article 2224 of the French Civil Code), and then delete it. To prevent abuse, your IP address is used at that moment to count submissions, without being stored.
Purchases and licences
When you buy, your email address and payment details are processed by Polar Software Inc. (reseller) under its own privacy policy, on the basis of performing the contract. To check your licence key, the app sends only the key to Polar’s API (which technically sees your IP address). Polar shares your email address and purchase history with us, which we keep for 10 years, the retention period for accounting records (article L123-22 of the French Commercial Code), and then delete. Legal basis: our accounting obligations.
Transfers outside the European Union
Cloudflare, Inc. and Polar Software Inc. are based in the United States. Cloudflare is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, covered by an adequacy decision of the European Commission, and also uses the Commission’s standard contractual clauses. Polar covers its transfers with standard contractual clauses. Proton AG is based in Switzerland, which is recognised as providing adequate protection.
Cookies and local storage
Placelia uses no cookies. The browser’s local storage is used only to keep your plans, your language and your licence: it is strictly necessary for the service you ask for, so it does not require consent (article 82 of the French Data Protection Act, CNIL guidelines).
No audience measurement tool is used: your visits are not counted.
The typefaces are hosted on our own servers: no request is sent to Google or any other third party when you visit.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port the data about you, and to set instructions for what happens to it after your death. Write to contact@placelia.fr; we answer within one month. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr).
